Information on Homeless Veterans and Services Provided

With an estimated 400,000 veterans homeless at some time during the year, the VA reaches 25% of those in need, leaving 300,000 veterans who must seek assistance from local government agencies and service organizations in their communities.  The VA estimates that nearly 200,000 U.S. veterans are homeless on any given night

In the State of Missouri it is estimated that there are over 13,000 homeless veterans and VA funding for only 96 beds.  In the Springfield area it is estimated that there are 500 homeless veterans with this estimate being arrived at via the US Census and local homeless provider estimates. NLEC's Veterans Come Home Program is one of the few programs aimed at providing assistance to homeless veterans in Springfield, Missouri.
